Hiring Car in Sweden

Tagged with: — ondrej at 11:06 pm on Wednesday, July 5, 2006

My trip to Sweden starts tomorrow :) Last week I booked a car there.

Firstly I tried to contact some local car rental companies — I said to myself that it should be cheaper than to order it via an international company.

I contacted Avis there and their offer was 1900 SEK (approx. 200€) for three days with unlimited milage (for a small car such as VW Golf or Skoda Fabia). I expected something cheaper, so I told them that I would call later.
Their opening hours for the booking service are until 5pm. I tried to call there from 4:30pm until 5:05pm, but there was no response :(

Arrrgh, so I contacted an international company, I filled out their booking form and in 20-30 minutes I received an e-mail that they started searching. Three minutes after that I received the second e-mail that my car was successfully booked. For three days, unlimited milage, a bigger car (such as Opel Astra) for 1500 SEK (150€). And what is the name of the local car rental company from which I will get the car? Avis.
